The FIM regrets to inform the motorcycling community of the recent passing of Nikolai Krasnikov, a former and multiple FIM Ice Speedway World Champion, following a tragic road traffic accident whilst travelling in a car.

Born on 4th February 1985 in Ufa, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union – Nikolai rightfully earned his place as legend on the frozen ovals with him winning the FIM Ice Speedway World Championship for eight consecutive years from 2005 to 2012 inclusive.

In addition to his individual honours Nikolai also played his part in assisting his country to claim the FIM Team Ice Speedway World Championship on no less than twelve occasions, which included a ten-year unbroken winning streak from 2004 to 2013 inclusive and then again in 2015 and 2016.

On behalf of the FIM, President Jorge Viegas, we extend our deepest condolences to Nikolai’s family and his many friends, he will be sorely missed by the motorcycle community.
